CHC30121 - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

This course is recommended for you if you have aspirations to move into a role where you will be directly caring for children in an Early Childhood Education and Care Setting.

As the foundation qualification for all Childcare Professionals it is an essential stepping stone to a meaningful career for people with a natural affinity and interest in the development and education of young children.

This course encompasses child development, the importance of Educator and family partnerships, and develops a sound knowledge of the major curriculum learning areas. It will provide you with the practical experience and theoretical knowledge required in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.

There are two ways you can complete this course, either through;

Face-to-face classroom based training, or
Workplace based traineeship

37 weeks of classroom learning for 2 days per week, plus;
160 hours of work experience at your own pace (i.e 160 hours / 30 weeks = 5.3 hours per week)

Strong job demand and clear career pathways

These courses open up employment as an educator in a wide variety of settings, including long day care, childcare centres, occasional care, playgroup, kindergarten or a preschool program. Labourmarketinsights.gov.au projects future growth of these roles by 7.5% from 2023 to 2026.
Completion Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care opens the path to further study. The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care will then qualify you for Lead Educator, Coordinator and Centre Manager roles. Future growth of these roles by is projected to be 21.8% from 2023 to 2026.
A bachelor degree in education majoring in early education then leads to work as a Primary School Teacher. Job growth is expected to be 21.6% from 2023 to 2026.

Flexibility

Depending on the setting you are employed in as an early childhood educator, you may work on a full time, part time or casual basis, offering you choices to suit your work-life balance.

From 1st January 2023 this course has been part of the Fee Free Training program. The course fees for this course will be 100% subsidised by the WA state government for eligible students. Places are limited, see www.jobsandskills.wa.gov.au for further information.

To eligible for free training you must meet the both of the following two criteria;

Be a West Australian Resident

AND

Be a Australian Citizen OR a Permanent Visa holder OR Have one of these Visa’s;

Visa subclass 300, 309, 444, 445, 461, 785, 790, 820
Secondary holder (spouses and dependents) of Visa 188, 457, 482, 489, 491, 494
Ukraine citizens holding visa sub-class 449 and 786
Afgan citizens holding visa sub-class 449
050 & 051 Bridging Visa E Subclass holders who have applied for Subclass 785 or 790
Bridging Visa holders with work entitlements who have applied for 866 Subclass
